If there's one thing that I've learnt about delegation so far, it's this.

My mom may not be a public administration scholar or management guru, but sometimes, the simplest advice carry the greatest significance.

It's normal for leaders/managers to "arrow" their subordinates for certain tasks or jobs, no matter what the organisation in concern. In modern times however, people use guns with live rounds, or bullets to do the shooting.

So here's the crux, while we can "shoot" or outsource to others some of the delegated work, as leaders, we still need to pick up the bullet shells.

It's about ensuring that the job gets done. Something the SAF has drilled in us specialists and officers for the longest time possible.
