Transition

I think more and more of the Floravale residents are doing well in their businesses or careers, because they do seem to be getting richer, or least they now have more disposable income. One can tell by the appearances of shiny new BMW 3 and 5 sedans, and a couple more new Mercedes E200 Kompressors/E240 series cars.

Okay anyway, let's get back on track. Time does seem to fly. In four to six years' time, we'd be completing NS (for the guys), graduating from university/polytechnics or other institutions of higher learning, and joining the workforce. Some of us will be climbing up the corporate ladder, while others may pursue their Masters or PhDs. Some of us will then be moving on find husbands or wives and starting families. Oh my goodness. I'm still a boy leh. It does seem rather fast. It was only a few years ago that we were struggling past teritary education, of going through the O levels and all... Ah well. All of us have to grow up some day. Hah.

It is at this stage - this crossroads of my life, that I'm beginning to feel that sense of insecurity. All the upheavals and change that I've been experiencing for the past few months, both emotional and mental, phew, they've taken their toll. It's that transition stage, moving between the teenage years into young adulthood. It can really get confusing at times.

Take for example, the current 19-year olds in KPC. Officially, we're part of the Young Adults. But technically speaking, there is no combined group known as the young adults, only a disparate colllection of various BS groups under different leaders. And it's not that we're very familiar with most of the young people there, nor are we given many opportunities to interact. Then again, it would seem awkard after so long, having been so comfortable with our friends in the Youth. Hmmm. Are we then youths? I think not. We may be group leaders for the Sec 1 to 3 groups, but do we really belong? Maybe we're too old to be classified as Youths anymore. It does seem that there's a "generation gap" between those aged 19 and below, and those aged 19 and above. And our group happens to be at the very edge of this boundary - a batch in transition.
