Roleplay

This happens to be my 101st post, which means, the previous entry marked the centennial milestone. No biggie, but still, it's something to remember, considering the hundreds of entries lost when Diary-x crashed on me some one and a half years ago.

The scholarship application window's closing this Friday, well at least for most of the institutions and companies offerings scholarships. And I guess I'm most probably gonna miss this year's exercise due to the fact that I'd have to type a lot of essays in a lot less time as compared to the situation last year. Which may be a blessing in disguise because I won't have to compete with the hordes of Dragon Year babies all with the same idea (I mean, half of the Class of 2006 from RJC got 4As of more, so what's my 3As compared to any of them?). Perhaps I'll try again next year, with less competition. Haha. No, I'm not trying to console myself.

I really don't understand why they insist on using real-life people to "role-play" on the behalf of actual guests-of-honour/reviewing officers for parades. Right down to the most minute detail of dressing like him/her. I mean, the behaviour of stand-ins may differ greatly from what the real person actually does right. Can't they just use their imagination? What puzzles me more is that, in the whole entire SAF, why did they have to choose 20SA, and more specifically Bravo Battery, to do parade-markings and for the role of well, role-playing? More like we, were "volunteered" against our will. What an irony. With that being said, it'll be SAFTI MI for me tomorrow. Okay, I should be thankful it's pretty near home and I get to stay out for Monday. Hmmm.

Nothing much is moving nowadays. I've told you about our "grand plan" to reach out to the group. In principle, we both agreed on the urgent need to restart the sessions, which have virutally grounded to a halt, and for more cohesion and interaction within the group. Well, there was supposed to be a gathering of some sort, but the instruction's about a month old and nothing's happened so far. It's supposed to be this two-pronged approach where the sessions continue, but group level events would be the order of the day. I mean, we both felt social events'd be better for them to open up to each other and to us.

Okay, I've been guilty myself, with duties and all piling up and procrastining certain important appointments myself. We're all busy people I know, but we've gotta start trying harder to take the time out. Maybe it's time to re-examine our priorites and schedules. We haven't been giving them enough attention for the past few weeks, even months. I'm sorta at my wits' end as to what to do next. There is no plan B. Not unless you can think of a better idea. Any?

300's really not bad (some say it's better than Troy, but I guess it's a matter of personal taste), even though the whole movie's shot in front of a blue screen. Good CGI effects, although the blood spilt was a little less than what I expected from the slaughtering of thousands. Hmmm. I kinda got tired of all the killing after a while though. Most printed reviews I read gave it many thumbs up while the websites I surfed on the other hand, dismissed the movie with having a not-so-good storyline and characters that didn't really make sense for some parts. But, to me, it's still pretty good lah really. =)

Maybe that's where the Romans got their inspiration for their helmets from.
