Culmination
So this is what we have all been working towards to. No, it's not the end yet. But it was most certainly a grand start to a twelve-week programme, which, for most participants, would be their first time in Singapore.
Despite the hectic schedule, straight-jacket, formal atmosphere and "polite" jokes and forced laughter, we had a free cultural performance and food for lunch and dinner today. Not just cheap catered food mind you. There were proper table manners and etiquette to be observed. And to think we still got paid to eat such good stuff too. Haha. It was also interesting to interact with some of the delegates and speak proper English for once. It's not that often to get to do that you know.
Oh I've booked accommodation and just one sightseeing package in Dubai already. But the most important component of every trip - air tickets i.e. how to get there, hasn't been quite confirmed yet. It seems the "cheapest" tickets have all been snapped up, and we'll be paying SGD138 per person more than originally thought. Now that's a lot for budget travellers like me. We haven't factored in the meals, shopping (including duty-free!), and internal travelling within the UAE. So how. How now brown cow. How now Zi Hao. How now Zuhao. Hey they rhyme. Okay enough. I haven't managed to secure any second job yet, besides the Biology TYS-typing assignments. Still awaiting Uncle Osbert's HR department regarding some book review project-based job. Not that I read books at all, but if I get paid to do that, why not? =D
And my right knee hurts like crazy. Even with the knee guard. So now I walk like Mas Selamat. Yes, the most popular guy in Singapore continues to elude our elite security forces and continues to kill more trees by the day, as more posters and flyers get distributed. All I did was run a six kilometre route through Nayang Crescent and back. It's the tendon I think. It's swollen. Yet I'm still so reluctant to see the doctor because of the seeming lack of time and the fact that I no longer get free medical treatment. To think that I even had to walk up and down campus thousands of times today as well. =( How am I gonna run Sundown man. It's only a mere three months' away.
