Countdown
Less than 10 days to go. If you discount the weekends and the days of off and leave, the number would much smaller. Whatever the case is, the final countdown has begun. Most of my stuff in camp has already been brought home, save for the major items like my helmet, webbing, field pack and duffel bag. Now that's still a lot of things to lug back home next week. What's left to be done is the FFI and ORD clearance. Not to mention, the dreaded 1206. I think.
Passed my Combat Shoot 2 on Tuesday, with some Alpha and HQ battery guys. Which explained why we had the birthday surprise for Claudia at her workplace on Monday instead of the actual day. A surprise that was almost ruined by me sending her SMSes by mistake not once, but three times. Messages that were meant for Melody and I to plan the whole thing. Fortunately Claudia didn't get what I was saying so she was still pleasantly surprised when we revealed the cake and card. Or at least she was nice enough to pretend. Haha. Honestly, the drinks weren't fantastic, but at least I had a free Fish & Co. dinner, courtesy of Samuel's $50 voucher. Haha.
O level results were out on Thursday. Most of the KPC people did quite alright, with quite a few averaging an L1R5 of ten and below. Congrats to all though. Thanks be to God indeed! =) Nowadays, either our youths are getting smarter, or the papers are getting easier. I think they're getting smarter. Or working harder and getting more stressed, with less time for anything else except school. It's up to you to judge. Whatever the case, now comes the tough JAE. Poly or JC? Arts, or Science? Business or Engineering, or the myriad of other course offered by the five polytechnics?
Went for the Teaching As A Career Seminar with Calvin just now. Most of what they talked about can actually be found on the MOE website, besides the testimonials and personal anecdotes from the teachers/education officers who shared their experiences. Too bad they didn't say anything about scholarships though. I've yet to prepare for the scholarship interview, if I do manage to get through this year. Guess I'll wait till the release of the A Level results.
Still deliberating whether I should go for Sundown. I wouldn't bat an eyelid signing up for any other run, right up to the pinnacle of all runs in Singapore - the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. But as if running forty two kilometres isn't gruelling enough, it's even more crazy to be doing at in the dead of the night. From midnight to the next morning to be exact. And I'm not evening talking about the eighty four kilometre race (that's already been fully booked). That run starts in the evening and last till the next morning. Running a marathon at midnight wouldn't only require extensive and progressive training, it'd need me to change my entire sleeping pattern in the weeks up to the race itself. Although quite a number of friends have indicated their interest in signing up, I seriously have to consider whether I'd be able to commit myself to such an event. Phew. We shall see.
Heard that there're gonna be two new train routes by 2020. Stations in areas like Thompson and Marine Parade. Woah. As if property prices there aren't sky high enough already. Now it makes perfect sense to live in the East Coast man. With so many lines running criss-cross all over the island, you'll never have to take the bus again! Haha. Or drive. No wait, that's just another excuse to not get my Class 3. Then again, the roads are getting increasingly congested by so many cars. Does it make sense to learn how to drive then? Hmmm.
By the way, Flea & Easy @ Zouk and Winebar on Sunday afternoon, 17 February, anyone?
