Downslope

Mas Selamat still continues to evade capture, proving to be an elusive target in the massive manhunt. Yes that's right, even though his face is everywhere - from bus stops to MRT stations to the exit doors of buses, and even the side gates of The Floravale. They've wasted so much paper just doing that. He's like, the next Singapore Idol. So famous without having to try man.

They say that he might be hiding out in one of our nature reserves or forested areas, and can survive "indefinitely" on the diverse array of flora and fauna and small animals that Singapore has. I seriously doubt this theory because firstly, he trained in Afghanistan where there're mountains and deserts, not tropical rainforests. Secondly, he doesn't have the Jungle Confidence Course proficiency badge that all our Infantry/Guards/Commando officers wear with pride. But then again, he could have trained in the vast jungles of Sumatra and Borneo (before the forest fires started and the haze problem came up), right under the noses of the authorities there. Hmmm.

And yesterday, a knife-wielding man was shot dead by the police at Outram Park MRT station. What's next? Organised crime in our integrated resorts? Either way, it's getting more and more exciting to read the papers these days. Which I've been doing a lot more often in the office to pass the time. Then again, I'm sure many of us are also thinking on how Singapore's becoming a more violent and less safe place nowadays. Moral of the story? Don't live near to a detention home or hang out too much at coffee shops where people always get drunk and fight. Not to hard is it?

The 2007 GCE-A Level Examination results just got out a few hours ago. Ignore, the date/time stamp at the bottom of this entry, it's just that I first started typing this entry while looking after the seminar room. So most of the KPC people did quite well. Nope, no S Paper or H3 calibre students for this batch (unlike Calvin Tan and Hui Qi), but all of them did well enough to qualify for university, which isn't that surprising is it? So I guess Cheryl will be going to FASS will the rest of us after all huh. Anyway, congrats to all of them!

The air tickets came yesterday! Looks like we're going to Dubai after all. Almost had a heart attack when I found out that the maximum limit for withdrawals from POSB Savings Accounts was capped at SGD2000. Thank goodness for internet banking and for this thing called transfers. Thanks to Sam for allowing me to use his account to withdraw the rest of the money. Phew.
