Calm before the Storm

SMU just called. Got an interview for their Law School. Now I've gotta think of what to say. As usual. Like last year's university applications. Only that I've got less time compared to the previous exercise. Frankly I don't really know why I just applied for both NUS and SMU Law Schools even though I've already got a place in NUS FASS. Now I think I mentioned this in one of my previous entries. Hmmm.

So it's Friday again! Lock-in night's tonight - now that'll provide some respite and fun from the otherwise not-so-happening week.

This week has just been so slack. It's not that I'm complaining, but it's been so slack that on Wednesday morning, Reynold and I decided to run, so that our bodies wouldn't rot, and that we'd be able to maintain our physical fitness of the next IPPT (the test window's opening soon! Less than a month to becoming a second-year soldier!). We only did 4 km, but I almost died after that. Yes, shows how weak I've become, since I've just recovered from a bout of suspected asthma and since I've not ran much for months.

CO's emphasis on physical fitness and training for the Best Unit Competition, while beneficial to those struggling to pass or attain awards for IPPT and SOC, may prove to be detrimental to the unit's overall operational readiness. We haven't gone outfield for about two whole months. Now that'll really affect our performance when it comes to FATEP 1 Bravo, which is going to be in about a month's time. Well I suppose they've make it up by going real intensive on the outfield training come April, which means we'd be pushed hard to perform up to standard and that means I'd positively die, from the fact that I've been sorta going through a "lull" period of sorts, as if we were going ORD soon or something. Haha.

But of course, there're always benefits to not going outfield. Firstly, you get to watch all the movies you've missed in theatres, for FREE! Caught films like Step Up, Saw II, Initial D, The Apartment, Bean The Movie etc. etc. Then there's the best feeling of showering after a hard day of physical training. Of course, who can forget the fact that delicious canteen (no, not the cookhouse) food awaits you whenever you're hungry? Ah well. But as they say, all good things have to come to an end. What I'd call this period would be the calm before the storm - yes, before the reality hits us. We are living on borrowed time gentlemen.

So what should we do about this? Enjoy the lull period while it lasts! =)
