The Fourth One

So which part of the process warranted the seventy-nine bucks? The nice hair wash? The personalised, attentive service that came along with the latest magazines for browsing? The ambience (or lack of it rather)? The deft handling of the scissors and the absence of shavers? Hmmm. At least I didn't pay a cent. Haha.

Anyways, it's that time of the year when all A Level graduates start the arduous process of taking the next step in tertiary education. Including myself. Yes I'll be going home to FASS @ NUS this July/August, but somehow, all the hype and publicity by the two universities are really distracting me a bit. Discount NTU. It has never appealed and never will appeal to me. Yep, same thing happened last year.

There're some things that I will not consider again. Like Law. For both schools.

There're some things that I will reconsider, or I already have. Things like scholarship applications, although it can get tiring applying for the same things again. And getting depressed when you read about all the high fliers from top colleges going places. Because I know I don't really have much of a chance. Just a wild hope that somehow, I might clinch one of the lower tier scholarships or awards.

Then there're new things to consider, like whether I should try for the USP at NUS. Or double degree/concurrent/joint degree programmes. Or NUS Business as one of the degrees. Or even if it seems last minute, a switch of loyalties to SMU, where there're more choices to mix and match degree programmes. Getting into SMU Social Science isn't a problem. Even if offered a place there, it wouldn't be worth it unless I manage to get into a double degree course. Which is highly unlikely I think. For both NUS and SMU scenarios. Then again, there's the cost factor. It'll be so expensive to make any kind of switch at this point in time.

So herein lies the dilemma of someone with my kind of results. It's not outrightly sucky, which would relegate me to a limited number of options, yet not good enough for scholarships or degree programmes of a higher calibre. It's less than a month till applications close. Decisions, decisions.

In other news, the Opposition trashed the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition and wrested not one, not two, but five states from the federal government's control. Not that I'm a big fan of PAS and their hardcore Islamic rule, but it's quite exciting to see such a radical change to the political landscape. No more one-party rule for our northern neighbour. That means a less likely chance of a united anti-Singapore stance I presume. Haha. I wonder when's Singapore's turn. Even when I come of age to vote, I bet there'll be a walkover in the constituency I'll be residing in (presumably, Aljunied GRC?). No fun.

Saturday. Jonathan Tay's 21st.

Yacht on the extreme right. Not mine.

I like their open toilet concept though. With a skylight and full windows.

Dinner for forty!

There were even fireworks you know. But tiny ones. I think they set them off at the Esplanade. Wrong place man. Haha.
