Applied
So I've finally made my applications for both NUS and SMU. For NUS, it'll be Law, FASS and Business Administration, in order of choice. Yeah I only filled in three out of the eight choices, basically because, as an Arts student, I certainly can't do Engineering or Medicine right. But no regrets whatsoever. I'm still Proud to be an Arts Student. FASS is no longer a dumping ground for undegrads who can't make it to other courses mind you. More and more people are realising the value of an Arts and Social Sciences degree, so much so that the average grades needed for entry are about B, B, C (from what I last heard).
Competition for NUS Law School's really intense. 3000+ applicants for 240 places! Out of which only about 800 will be shortlisted (those with an A- average for their A level grades) for the interview and written essay test, which in turn constitutes 50% of the weightage considered for entry (they'll take the other 50% from your A Level results and Project Work and stuff). Sure, Law's really prestigious and offers good career prospects (IF you do well during the four + one years of your degree programme and pupilage). But getting into Law is one thing, staying in Law School and doing well is another. I do like the idea of studying in the new Bukit Timah campus though. Nice surroundings and all. Hah.
I guess if God really wants me to go for it, He'd let me get a place there. If I don't make the cut, He has His reasons. All things work out for the good for those who trust in Him. =) Otherwise, I'd still be very happy and thankful to be able to study in FASS, probably majoring in Political Science and Sociology or Psychology or something. From what I read, these two subjects do seem quite interesting.
For SMU I chose Social Science followed by Economics. Why this order? Firstly, there ain't much choice. I'm not a very Business-minded person, nor do I qualify to apply for Infocomm Systems or Accountancy. Secondly, I'm not a very Math-person as well. And the sad thing is, Economics requires Math, especially towards the later years of the degree programme. Oh well. I also tried to applied for NTU though, but didn't get to complete the application because Daddy didn't wanna waste money. -_-
So now comes the long wait for the universities to reply. I guess we'll know by end of April ya? Basically because the interview and written test dates are around that time. Hmmm.
