Battery Standby

We're going to war.

Well not really. But once that little red button is pressed, we will have to be ready for it. Yup. The first time. So many last minute preparations. Saturday was burnt. Busy like there's no tomorrow. Especially for us commanders. Ah well. We officially begin our standby tomorrow. Let's hope that no armed robbers swim over from across the Causeway and land on Pulau Tekong, causing all recruits to be locked in their bunks and for us to be activated to catch these scoundrels yes? Like what happened the other time. Oh please no. Not on a weekend at least.

Anyway, congrats to all who successfully got their places in the universities. Especially to Kimberly who got into SMU's School of Law, Zhi Kai for NTU's School of ADM, and the whole lot of them who got into NUS' Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Way to go!

As for me, I guess it's gonna be FASS for me. I mean, there's no news yet, and do you really think I could get into any Law School? There're like 1200 applicants for 82 places in SMU's Law School and 1300 for 240 places in NUS' Law School. Not a chance. Not with my results and poor showing at the interview and test. There's always next year's applications right? No harm trying my luck again what. Haha. Anyway, it's gonna be fun to see how 8 of us from KPC are gonna fare in the same school for four years or so, beginning 2008 of course. =)

Ran with Andrew on Sunday, putting in about 5km. Okay slightly less than that. Ran from Joo Chiat Lane to Dunman Road, right past Broadrick Secondary and the former Guillemard Camp and then back to KPC. With standby prep and all, it'll be really good if I'm able to put in anything more than 10 km a week, and I've gotta increase the mileage pretty soon if I'm participating in Run 4 Missions man. Hmmm.

Had a brief chit-chat session with Yao Qi man in the specialists' mess over lunch and if all goes well, a Christian support group might just be started right here in 20SA. Not very unlike the kind of youth groups we have in KPC. Just that it's gonna consist of guys who can easily encourage and empathise as we all go through the varied up and down experiences of National Service in the same unit. Things are gonna get exicting man. ;) Thanks to Jerry for reminding me to get started on this idea soon.

Saturday'll bring the monthly EXCO meeting. In which I'd have to give my reply to Pastor Kuo Yung, Roy and the rest of the committee. Pray that I'd be able to make the right choice before then. For wisdom from God to discern the various needs. To prioritise what's most important. Like Evan said, God allows us to make the decisions, and as long as we're serving with all our hearts, He'd be pleased with our work that glorifies Him. =)

Also hope to catch Spiderman 3 by this weekend, get a shoebag from Queensway maybe. And then there's mentoring to be done. Can't wait for payday on Thursday man. Running really low now. Been over-drawing, especially with all the cabbing around the past month, buying pre-paid cards and buying all the birthday presents for friends. Argh.

Till then, it's still a long way to go to Friday. Let's pray that I'll survive the week ya. Haha.

Candid shot. (28 April 2007) Thanks for the 10.1 MP shot Roy! =)
