Crisis Point

Short but eventful week. Monday and Tuesday brought the much anticipated but under-prepared Detachment Proficiency Test. Since Wei Hong was on leave, I had to stand in for the role of detachment commander - something that I had not done since what, Battleking? And that was in January. Haha. Thankfully the guys were much better prepared than I was, and we did alright. Final score: second out of six guns in Bravo and tenth out of eighteen guns in the battalion. Thank God. =)

Vesak Day brought Class 04A4 to my place for a barbecue dinner. Although more than half the class didn't turn up or had to leave halfway, it wasn't really that unexpected, considering the fact that only about half the class turned up for the previous outing. We still had a good time catching up on old times anyway. Some of us haven't really changed that much over the past two years or so huh. Haha. Too bad we didn't take any photos man. =(

"Celebrated" our unit's anniversary on Friday morning with the screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End @ Shaw Plaza somewhere along Balestier Road. Well firstly, I don't know how old our unit is, and secondly, I don't know why they chose such an out-of-the-way place for us to watch the movie. Hmmm. Well it wasn't crowded, maybe that's why. But the show was alright. Haha.

Met the family for lunch @ Hard Rock Cafe, before setting off a whirlwind shopping trip to look for my shoes and bag. Manage to get a Nike bag big enough to hold all my camp stuff and not to mention, one that matches the design of my other Nike shoe bag. Haha. The shoes will have to wait though - they didn't have my size. =( Dropped by church and Dunman for dinner, and to meet up with Evan and Marianne Lee regarding preparation for Saturday's group discussion. But it turned out that, that trip wasn't necessary, because the Seventeens didn't even turn up - Evan was sitting in with the Fifteens (girls), in preparation for her standing-in for Dawn and Hui Qi this two coming Saturdays.

Oh well. It can get really discouraging sometimes, to see such dismal attendance, to see how some of us get so caught up in our worldly activities that we forget our priorities, to see how we may just lose an entire cohort just like that. Yet, in all my fears and anxieties, hope still remains. It really encourages me to see how some of us still persevere on, to see how some of us having the heart and concern for others, to know that you're not alone in running the race. Yes, there is still hope. With Christ, there's always hope. =)

At this critical point, we what can do is to carry on faithfully in His service to the group, pray and hope that the Holy Spirit'd move among the group and bring them back to God. And pray.
