Weekly Update
Well it was a long week, but fortunately it passed by relatively quickly. So quickly that tomorrow's book in day again. Long week but short weekend. =(
My orthopaedic appointment was on Monday. The doctor said my flat footed-ness isn't really that severe (most thankfully) - well yes they're flat but at least they're quite flexible. So no physiotherapy's needed, but he made me another appointment with the podiatrist for this coming Friday. The pain I feel below my knees, shins and ankles should subside or be reduced drastically once I get my insoles custom made. Three hundred dollars or more a pair, but hey, what's the big deal when you've got the government to foot the bill? Haha. Till then, I've officially been excused running, marching and jumping for six weeks, pending further review, if not, up to three months. But who cares about such statuses. I'm still going outfield and doing my weekly or bi-weekly runs anyway.
Battalion exercise from Tuesday to Thursday. Did quite a lot of Reece training. The permanently water-logged deployment grounds of Simpang made that seem a lot like the training in during my infantry days man. Mud, toil, sweat, and tears (All hail Winston Churchill! Okay he said blood, not mud, and there weren't any tears lah huh). Haven't been outfield for so long a stretch, ever since well, Battleking, so it was quite a chore and we were all shagged out at the end of it. Now I'm down with a cold, cough and slight sore throat. Must be the polluted water. Hmmm. All these ailments are surely going to take their toll on my stamina and physical fitness. That means slower run timings and shorter distances covered. Oh well. It's not easy to gain these back you know.
I kinda regret not taking the Seventeens today. Only three of them were present - Evan was taking the Fourteen and Fifteen year-old girls. Tanya and Shuhui did turn up though, after a really long break. Yet, I had to combine them with the Sixteens under Justin and Amanda, while I co-led the Fifteen year-old boys with Andrew. Maybe I should have spent more time with my group, though it would have been a little awkward. I don't know. It takes two hands to clap, but on our part, Marianne and I would have to really make the time and effort to reach out. Not easy but we've gotta do it man. Oh well.
Alright. I've like run out of things to say here. I'll blog more if there're any more updates. Till then.
