Non-Stop Action
Been living the resort life for the past three days. Well almost. =)
Clocked my last five kilometres on the treadmill at NSRCC's well-equipped gym on Friday evening, in preparation for Sunday's run I acutally wanted to run down to Changi Village from the resort, but the round trip would have been ten kilometres and that would've been too much. And besides, it wasn't that bad running on the treadmill. Just that doing so frequently will wear out your shoes very fast, and it can get monotonous without music, a flatscreen TV screening a B-grade movie on Star Movies, and Cheryl talking to herself for company. Haha. Couldn't sleep much on Friday night though. The pillow was too soft and some of the youths who stayed over were making some noise with many, many rounds of Settlers downstairs.
Spent Saturday morning splashing around the swimming pool with the others, before we went to Popeyes' for lunch. Met up with the main body of youths at Eunos. Quite a number were late, as usual, but then again, we're all youths and youths don't usually remember instructions to be on time. Thankfully, we got most of the youths safely transported back to NSRCC. After which, the rest of the event went on like clockwork - camp brief, mass icebreakers, and beach games that were so enjoyable that we overshot our stipulated timing. Dinner followed, and only a few of the youths went back at the official end time at seven fifteen in the evening. The rest stayed on at the arcade, bowling, watching cable TV and yes, for more rounds of Settlers. I slept early on Saturday though, in anticipation for...
Cab fare on Sunday morning from NSRCC to Bedok Stadium cost me sixteen dollars and twenty cents (the booking fee and surcharge alone was more than eight dollars). Forked out another five dollars for the bus to take us to Esplanade Drive. Flagged off at six fifteen a.m. Managed to shave off about eight minutes from my previous half marathon - quite a feat, considering that we didn't train that hard or properly for this event. Still, the last two kilometres proved to be agonising, and I was reduced to a slow jog for that segment. As for whether I'll still be running for next year's event, well... We'll see. Haha.
Managed a hour's rest at home before meeting Alvin Chow, Zhong Ming and Rayner for dinner at Brewerkz. The ale and stout were good, the famed buffalo wings lived up to their reputation, but the burger was a disappointment. The beef patty tasted more well-done than medium, and it was so dry. Should have ordered the sausage & mash I guess. Either way, we spent a bomb on food.
Today's a rest day. Tomorrow'll be the prep day for all camp GLs and service team members. Then it'll be two days of Plug' In for me, before having to drag myself back to camp for COS duty and maybe even burning Saturday pulling lane safety duty for combat shoot. Not a good way to end the week man. =(
Anyway, pictures from the past few days!

Lunch on Friday, at the highly over-priced Poolside Cafe @ NSRCC. Managed by Jumbo Seafood, no wonder.
Not as powerful as the SuperSoaker.
Showers of blessings.
And you thought Nutcracker was tough...
Until you realised that you actually had to bury someone alive...
And you had to blow as many balloons are you could.
Greed written all over Li Sen's face as he eyes the tokens in the arcade machine... Haha kidding lah.
Steady as she goes...
Dinner on Sunday night. Rayner was late, so he had one less glass of ale. A pity really.
Well see how it goes next year shall we? =)
