Cohesion
Tuesday's big event went well, considering how few rehearsals we had. It felt funny to put on camoflage face cream again, after some nine months. The last time I had to do that was in Cresendo, Kanchanaburi, Thailand, when the media came to film us for some video clip for the Army Museum. Maybe you'll see me on film when you do visit ARMS huh. Haha.
Made a wasted trip back to camp on Thursday, when I was supposed to be on off. Argh. Forgot to ask for the taxi fare receipt too. Second time. Well it's not that the PCS works anyway, but still, there's no harm trying. I mean, you won't know when they might just decide to reimburse your transport claim you know. Fortunately I didn't make any plans, otherwise I'd really be pissed off.
Friday was our much delayed battery cohesion day at East Coast Park. We ended up taking the BBQ pits near the National Sailing Centre. Yeah we really do love the place. No lah, just that we couldn't book pits nearer to Marine Cove (and the rest of civilisation) in time for the event. But then again, we got the whole polluted beach and grass patch to ourselves and got to see some sailing action too, and I got even tanner. I mean, what more could you ask for? I love cohesion events. It's a good excuse to get out of camp on official activity. Haha.
Celebrated Gladys' and Emerlyn's birthdays after Faith Factor just now, at of all places, Dunman Food Centre. Haha. Siglap would have been more conducive, but it was quite inconvenient for most of the younger ones. Too bad Evan was at her family's BBQ, so she couldn't join us. Anyway, some of the photographs are below. =)
Moving on to the topic of real estate now, houses nowadays are getting smaller and increasingly expensive. No surprise given the fact of our shrinking available land area and Singapore's booming, red-hot property market. Multi-million dollar homes are now the norm, and even second-hand HDB flats in good locations are starting to get out of our reach soon. I wonder, with the influx of the super-rich snapping up all the best houses, will poor locals like us get pushed further and further out to the peripherial areas (e.g. Boon Lay)? And there're not many locations we can choose from, considering the fact that any future home would have to be not too far East (even though that's the place to be). That would be too far from our current and future schools and workplaces. Then there're budgetary constraints to consider. Private or HDB? Leasehold or freehold? What about the floor area and nearby facilities? So many questions to consider. So many needs to be met. Well you can't please everyone. Oh well it's so difficult...
Anyway, such things are very much beyond my control. I can only give this much of advice. So while we continue to hold family discussions and prayer over the issue, the status quo still remains. In the meantime, enjoy the photographs! =)
Yao Qi, the superman who does everything to leading the Fourteen and Fifteen boys, to playing the guitar, to lighting candles on a cake! And then there's Cheryl, who really likes pink. =)
It was very rich I must say. Courtesy of Jeffrey and Cheryl who bought it from Island Creamery.
Birthday girls. =)
