Balancing Act
Thank goodness Singnet's pretty efficient. While the Taiwan earthquake may have knocked out telecommunication cables across the East Asian region, things look pretty much back to normal again. Well, as long as I can blog, log in to MSN and surf the Net, I'm fine. =)
Just when I was about to get used to civilian life again... They had to call us back to camp. For the most retarded of all reasons. Gun inspection's tomorrow, so most of us had to go back for maintenance TODAY. Yeah, so you can imagine how low the men's morale was. This low. Especially since we were supposed to clear leave before the end of the year. It was so low, that they didn't wanna fall in for first parade and didn't really bother to do much cleaning. I don't blame them. To begin with, I don't exercise my command and control properly, and secondly it's the festive season. But some people either don't understand, or don't have much of an outside life. So we did what we could, and we'll see the outcome tomorrow shall we? Whatever it is, I won't be around to witness it. It's gonna be another off day for me! Haha.
Speaking of which, it's certainly not easy to control and manage the battery. No, not Energiser lah - Bravo battery I mean. The men are much more experienced and have already formed strong bonds with the outgoing specialists. Every time I see them interacting, I feel so much like an outsider. And do the other new specialists. It'll take a long time - at least after the seniors ORD, will we be able to start from scratch, to form new bonds with our men. After all, they're gonna ORD and spent the next 10 years or so of reservist life with us. So we'd better start building good relationships from now, especially since most of them are of the same age or are older than us. Oh well. It's kinda difficult. How do you boost sagging morale without being too reliant on excessive welfare that cripples the incentive to work? How do you maintain or improve deteriorating discipline without coming across as too draconian or too lax for that matter. Especially with senior commanders expecting us to maintain or raise the overall standard in terms of physical fitness, training areas and stuff. Hmmm. What a delicate balancing act we've gotta achieve.
Tomorrow's JJC's Silver Jubilee Dinner cum Graduation Night cum Prize Presentation Cermony shit @ Suntec City Convention Centre's Ballroom (deja vu huh?). Here's the plan- arrive fashionably late (okay, or rather just on time), finish the dinner, get my book prize and scoot off. In that way, I can save myself the embarassment of waiting around like a fool, since I don't know any juniors. Haha. I'm just going for the food. And the prize money of course. How mercenary. Haha. I'm not proud of my former school anyway. I've never been. 25 years and it's still nowhere. Some things aren't meant to be huh. Don't get me wrong though, there're nice teachers and great friends, but the overall image of the school just sucks. Ask me personally for more details okay. Won't bother to explain here.
Oh and I'm ranked 39th of the daily highscores for Miniclip.com's Commando. Personal best. Haha. =D
