Prospects
Okay, so this week wasn't that bad after all.
The first two days were quite tiring, at least for myself. Hammering nails, camouflaging buildings and running after people all took their toll. All for yet another Change-Of-Command parade. In my short twenty-two month NS stint, I've witnessed change at all levels of command, that of BSM, BC, CO, Brigade Commander, all three official Division Commanders, the Chief of Army and Chief of Defence Force. So much for the continuous process of leadership renewal. And I was involved in one way or another in well, at least five of these parades. Ultimate sai-kang I'm telling you.
Other than that, the rest of the week was still tolerable. Cleared half a day of leave and performed my final guard on Wednesday. Duty on Thursday saw me stuck in camp, waiting in vain for the rest to come back from Jurong Camp. Dental FFI at Nee Soon Camp on Friday, two job interviews, gymming... Oh and the second interview netted me a job. Well, I haven't signed any papers yet, but it's been more or less confirmed. So I'll start like, immediately after Chinese New Year. Location and pay's still okay, and I guess it'll be good to try something that I've not done before. Somehow it makes your CV look impressive. Haha. Then again, I'm kina reluctant to start work so soon, especially since I'll be gaining new-found freedom on the sixth of February. Ah well, practical considerations triumph in this case.
Oh and have you noticed that they changed the automated voice on all the new SMRT trains? Yeah the one that informs you of the next station and such. No, I've not become a transport enthusiast like Jeffrey, but I really think that the new voice gives me goose pimples because it sounds so... cina. But I think TunnelTV's cool and they should have in through out all underground tunnels between stations. Okay this is so random.
So Benjamin's off to Melbourne to start a new education experience. I'm sure he'll mature and learn a lot more than just academic studies from studying overseas. =) I guess that's one major plus point that studying in local universities can't provide - a global outlook and perspective? That's what they always say. But having to be independent away from home is really no mean feat. It was an emotional farewell at T3, but hey, he'll be back sooner than you think. Paying the bond for National Service would cost so much more than having to fly back once every three months. But still, who cares, if you can get to see him sooner! Then again, we could include our travel plans to cover Victoria, as originally conceived right? Haha. It's a possibility.
Anyway. It was too late to go back home, or book into camp for that matter, so Roy and Shaun kindly offered to let me stay over for the short few hours. Cab fare to camp was surprisingly cheap (in light of the fare hikes), or maybye Circuit Road isn't that far from Ang Mo Kio St 66 after all. Unlike Westwood Avenue. =( Half-day COS followed. And then dinner at Timbre @ The Arts House. Food was so-so, but the drinks were not bad. Overall we spent less than what we would, given the same order, compared to say, Brewerkz or Iguana. Too bad we left before E.I.C played live. Not that I'm a big fan of music though. Haha.
Alright, I gotta get down to business now. A long week awaits. An unnecessary conversion course and an even more useless outfield exercise. Hah. No excuse out this time.

Took a while to decide on the drinks. A lot of them had hilarious names. Creative though. =)
Shaken, not stirred.
Okay, I may have sent it to the wrong person, but you didn't need to get so pissed. Look, I'm just trying to help, to give you a pleasant surprise on your big day. But now it's almost ruined, due to plain carelessness. I don't know why I keep screwing up everytime I try to help and end up hurting the ones that I really care about. But I do hope that one day you'll see that I care. Really.
